"I recently discovered my home insurance provider (not Statefarm but starts with ‘Pro’ and ends with ‘gressive’) had been cheating me out of hundreds of dollars over the last 6 years. I knew I had only a small window before I would be hit with yet another excessive and unexplained premium increase. I blame myself for not paying better attention, but lesson learned. I searched and found a few agents near me, including Gus Gordy. I knew I wanted someone local, someone who didn’t treat me like a number and/or a check, someone who would be accessible and someone who didn’t field calls on important matters. I took a chance and called his office on a Monday at 4:53p to see if he was available to answer some questions. The individual who answered shared with me that he was on a call so I asked to schedule an appointment. I added that it was time-sensitive and asked if there was any chance he would be willing to speak with me after his call. Much to my surprise and appreciation, I received a call back from Gus - not even ten minutes later! Not only was I shocked to have received a call back on such short notice, it was the end of the day AND a call from him, not staff. I immediately told him how grateful I was that he called me back, and then I turned frank. I told him I was interviewing agents and had questions in order to make time-sensitive decisions. Without hesitation he confidently responded, ‘Alright! Let’s hear ‘em’. He answered every question with professionalism and was patient even after I repeatedly said, ‘One more question...’ It didn’t take long for him to earn my trust. The more we spoke, the more impressed I was by his ability to talk insurance in laymen terms and explain what I should be looking for as a policy holder. Even as I expressed my frustration with my current insurance company and my expectations for an honest agent, he was calm and listened for understanding which is not something you see very often. After 40 minutes, we talked through all my questions and concerns. He walked me through every line item of what a policy with Statefarm would entail. Making Gus my new agent was the easiest decision I’ve made in a while. He ended our call by saying, ‘if ever you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and say hi to us’ - an open door policy, the spirit of a genuine and reliable agent and team. Highly recommend."
